Mandarin Enrichment
(Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12:30pm to 2pm. Lunch included)

Ages: 4 – 6

Suitable for children preparing to Mandarin Primary school or those wishing to learn Mandarin. We apply the Learning Box Mandarin program. The syllabus includes songs, poems and flashcards as a way to introduce the sounds and Mandarin characters to the children. Storytelling and roleplay is a part of the program to help children embrace the language. We have many successes from this program even from non Mandarin speaking families. We note that children have a greater propensity to pick up an additional language when they are exposed to different sounds at a young age. Mandarin will provide access to friendships, knowledge and markets of North Asia as the children grow into adulthood in years to come.

Speech & Drama
(Tuesday from 12:35pm to 1:40pm. Lunch included)

Ages: 4 – 6

Blubricks (blubricks.com) runs the Speech and Drama sessions at TPS. Their motto is to build confidence through Speech and Drama. Speech and Drama encourages children to express themselves more clearly, expressively and eloquently. The syllabus provides a structured framework designed to encourage progressive integrated performance and communication skill over time. Children practice exaggerating the sounds of various words to strengthen and identify different vocal muscles. Through play and exploration of different literature and drama styles, children develop confidence and spontaneity.

Creative Arts and Craft
(Thursday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. Lunch included)

Ages: 4 – 6

Conducted by qualified Art Teacher Ms. Michelle Yap. Children are naturally attracted to water colors, acrylic paint, color pencils, crayon and a huge array of art and craft projects. Drawing and creating 3D projects develop children’s ability to interpret what they see and reproducing them with their hands, trains their hand eye motor development. Arts play an important role in developing whole brain activity. Children improve on their ability to observe, describe and interpret day to day objects and events. Their ability to focus and concentrate gradually increase over time. Researches have found a strong correlation in children engagement in arts and their ability to think “out of the box” since they work with their hands in figuring out how to solve problems creatively.
